Lovebirds, a relative to the parrot, are small, active, happy birds that can also be loud and nippy.
A single Lovebird can be a great pet, while a pair of Lovebirds will often bond with each other.

lovebird Bird Mimicking Bat

I called her batbird but lazzy was her name, yes friends! I had a certain compassion for her because I got her when she was still very young and could not fly.
Up to this day she never learnt to fly because there was no mother to teach her how to, and I am not good in that department.
She was likened to a bat because when young, she would spend most of her time hanging upside down, although she never actually slept that way.

love birds However. there were two other birds, one a male parrot named "Big Mouth" (in the middle, do not confuse Big Mouth with Sam who is long after.) and the other, a male love bird named "Birdie". They never took a liking to lazzy because they thought that they were out her league.
Big Mouth and Birdie were very close to each other. As a matter of fact Big Mouth was gay because he would mouth feed Birdie,(you know how birds feed their young), the frequent attempted kisses which would often be rebuffed by Birdie. See Video. He was very protective of Birdie and would kill any new birds that I bought. Actually he killed quite a few. I know he was gay alright, because even when Lazzy became an adult, she never attracted their fancy. Not that she was ugly or anything.
lovebirds They were like two peas in a pod always together and very close like bottom (arse) and chamber pot (also called a "piss pot" or "chimmy" in Jamaica).
Sorry for the diversion there, but I had to share that with you.
As said before, lazzy was very young and delicate , not as hardy as the other two tyrants. So, protection was deemed necessary.

birds My birds were not caged as such. They only slept in it at times. Like a motel. They would check in at nights and checked out in the mornings early. So an extra cage was brought in (protection only) for the young and delicate Lazzy. She entertained herself by doing all sorts of funny things. The first couple of times she would fall like a rock. But with resilience and determination she became an expert. The rest of the story is told in the video. See Video.
