Lovebugs are small black flies with a dull, velvety appearance. The area immediately behind the head is red. Males are 1/4 inch (6-7 mm), and females are 1/3 inch (6-9mm) in length and vary considerably in size as males weigh 6 to 10 mg and females 15 to 25 mg. See Love bugs here
Turtles are reptiles of the order Testudines (the crown group of the superorder Chelonia). They vary their internal temperature according to the ambient environment, commonly called cold-blooded.

Love Bugs
Being the first time I've seen these bugs, I was amazed at what I discovered.
It began on my last trip to Florida on one afternoon of May 2010, when I drove through a swarm of bugs, (there must have been thousands of them) while driving between Palm Bay and Sebastian. I tell you folks, my windscreen was all smudged by sqashed bugs. Lady luck was on my side however, because it started raining.
That evening while in Sebastian, I saw these strange bugs flying around with what seemed to be having two heads, one at both ends.
One's mind and eyes surely can really play tricks on one, especially after gobbling down a couple whiskeys, so I figured that I was seeing things, being that maybe I was boozy. small

The next day, while with friends in the open, we were bombarded by zillions of these two headed creatures, at which time I was told that they were love bugs and that they were "doing it". You know, mating.

These bugs bang while flying I tell you (the female does the flying while the male hangs on like the tail of a kite), (I can hardly do it while standing, for heaven's sake) even when they land, they are still stuck together rear end to rear end, as if they are playing "tug O war" (only not facing each other).
Not much of a "tug O war" though, since the male (see image above, upper right) which is smaller and lighter, is always being dragged around by the larger and heavier female (see image above, upper left). he sort of just, "hanging in there". While attached in such a position, ejaculation takes a maximum of about 12.5 hours to be completed. (How I envy these guys for only that).
Adult males live for two to three days and females may live for a week or longer and mate with more than one male.
What makes the love bug life span so short? Is it because of exhaustion from all that "doing it" or because that's just the way it is?
Well, what ever the reason, I'd rather be "doing it" ten minutes per month and live a long life, than "doing it" for 12.5 hours and living for only a couple days.

Turtle
turtle4 On the second day of my stay in the beautiful city of Sebastian, me and my friend (Phantom) were sitting in his back yard just shooting the breeze when it was suggested that we go for a ride in town. As I wasn't comfortable going out with a belly full of piss, I decided to splash my boots in the nearby bushes in the back. As I neared the spot of choice, unzipping my fly, What did I see? Lo and behold, a huge turtle gawking at me. Now pissing was the last thing on my mind. I was so excited as I've never seen a turtle so big before.
turtle1 I shouted to my friend to come quickly to see this Behemoth
He came running along with his wife to see what the hubub was about, only to see that it was "Bo-Bo", as the turtle was known to them.
turtle3 "Bo-Bo" had come for his daily visit to the Phantom family where he,s fed with hibuscus flowers before returning to his abode in the bushes.
One can't be too careful wher one goes to relieve one's self these days. See The snake in the toilet
